This weekend was a lot of fun. I helped chaperone our Jr. High group from church on their winter retreat. We took about 50 kids down to Randle, WA for a weekend of fun. We arrived friday evening around 8pm and then had a great opening service with Jeremy Johnson, a youth pastor from a church in Renton, WA. He was a great speaker and really identified with the kids and held their attention. After the service we watched the movie Rudy but didn't get to see all of it as we had to get to bed.
Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast consisting of pancakes, eggs, sausage, milk and juice. The people from the church in Randle were awesome and handled all of our food preparation. After breakfast we had a devotion time followed by free time activities including touch footbal, soccer and ping pong. Then we grabbed our sack lunches and packed up and headed for the swim center in Centralia where we spent about 2.5 hours swimming. That really sapped the energy out of everyone. When we arrived back from swimming we had spaghetti, salad and bread waiting for us. After a brief amount of free time after supper, we headed into the sanctuary for the evening service. Once again Jeremy really connected with the kids and held their attention with his message about worship and sacrifice. The altar time was amazing and just about every kid in the place was right down there. After the service we had nachos and then it was time to get to bed.
Sunday morning we got up early in order to get things cleaned up and get out of there before the regular congregation arrived for church. On the way home we stopped at Northwest Trek and took the tour. It's a pretty cool place where you get to see lots of native wildlife such as moose, elk, coyote, bears, etc. Then we headed back home and arrived right on time at 3pm.
I shot quite a bit of video and can't wait to review it.
